The Kingston Frontenac Public Library is engaging our communities to assist with planning programs and services for Indigenous communities. We want to work alongside community members to promote and preserve the diverse Indigenous cultures that contribute to Kingston-Frontenac’s strengths.
About the Engagement Process
The engagement process is two-pronged:
- A community survey about programs and collections with an Indigenous focus was available online until Wednesday, August 15. A summary of community responses is available to download. Staff are reviewing the survey results and will develop recommendations for next steps in program and service delivery. Those recommendations will be shared with the community later this fall.
- The library consulted the Indigenous community on the formation of an Indigenous Advisory Circle. This consultation incorporated one-on-one interviews with stakeholders from Indigenous organizations and community agencies serving Indigenous populations. A summary report of these consultations is now available.
The information collected throughout this engagement process will be part of a summary report that will be posted on our website in the fall.
